Are you talking about the little one that is on the oil tube inside the chamber(the one the filter snugs up against,) or the big one that fits in the cover. You DO need both, and your Suzuki dealer can get these for you. The little one seals the filter so oil travels into it and not into the chamber where it won't be filtered etc.

As for the SE of SF, those letters change as the years go by. The current classification might be SG, or SJ, or whatever. When the Clymer was published, SE or SF were probably the current designations. It means nothing more than how new the oil series is.

And, I would highly recommend that you use motorcycle oil, such as Suzuki or Honda, as they are designed to work well with gears, clutches and bearings, unlike car oils which only have to lube the engine parts. One oil has to do all things and bike oils are designed for this. Well worth the extra few bucks cost. As for synthetics, pros and cons can be found on Bert's site in various entries.
